First, a Family Update
Freddie’s battle with cancer continues to be strong. While not cancer free, he does not need chemo for what will be 4 months! Thank you for your prayers for him!
Chris now has a full-time job working for Maryetta Schools. This will greatly free up the budget for FreshWater as more of the money received can go toward programs and materials. He will still be meeting with clients in the evenings and on the weekends. Many of our contacts for FreshWater has come through his job in the community and we are thankful for how God has provided.
A Story from the Well
God has allowed us to serve 15-20 people a month helping us help them find significance and confidence in their lives! These services would typically cost an individual hundreds of dollars per month. It is often painful for an individual to seek help and many times, money is the final reason they never do. We are seeing that when the money is not an obstacle and/or costs are minimal, individuals are more open to seeking help, to looking into their pain and finding healing. We are also finding that most people are very courteous when it comes to our services. As they begin to experience healing, they begin to ask us ‘what they can do to help us financially.’ We ask them to share the same truths with others about God’s love and refer anyone who may need help. We also show them a suggested donation scale, but always stress that our services do not have a ‘fee.’ We stress that finances should not be an obstacle to finding healing.
In addition to our counseling/spiritual direction services, we also have given resources to many of our clients. We will do this more as the ministry grows. Chris is also available to preach and lead worship for churches as the need arises.
During August…
· Rebecca will be attending a Grant Seeking class in Fayetteville, AR. In this class, she will learn about the grant process in depth and will be prepared to begin seeking grants. Obtaining grant funds can be an excellent way to diversify fundraising income for FreshWater. However, successfully winning grants takes unique skills. During this intensive, hands on, six-week class, Rebecca will learn the grant proposal process from beginning to end and leave with a grant proposal ready to be submitted on behalf of FreshWater.
· We will be hosting our first Marriage Enrichment Weekend with a young couple that went through pre-marital counseling with us. We are excited to follow up with them after their first year of marriage and give them more tools to build a healthy marriage.
· Our client schedule has really picked up! We are excited to have so many opportunities to help people.
· A prayer team...we would like to formulate an email list of people who will pray for our clients. Of course, names will not be given and in some cases the exact situation may even be ‘disguised.’ If you would like to be a part of an email prayer team, send us your email at rebecca.morton@freshwaterministries.us.
Our donors are making all this possible! Thank you!
New for donors! (Ideas from other donors!)
· Upon request, we can give pre-printed (addressed) envelopes for your convenience.
· Another way to make donations is through your bank account online. Recurring payments can be scheduled, similar to automatic draft, except you initiate and control it. Your bank cuts and mails the check directly to us.
· Also, remember we accept online payments through Paypal.
· And, of course, we still accept a good ol’ fashioned check in the mail!

For those who have email, we would love to email updates and newsletter via email to as many as possible.

Our Purpose
Helping people find significance and confidence in their lives.
We are a non-profit organization, operating solely on the generosity of individuals who desire to partner with us as we strive to help all people find significance and identity in their lives. Please consider partnering with us.
Jesus answered, "Everyone who drinks this water will be thirsty again, but whoever drinks the water I give him will never thirst. Indeed, the water I give him will become in him a spring of water welling up to eternal life." - John 4:13-14

What is Spiritual Direction?
We define Christian spiritual direction as help given by one Christian to another which enables that person to pay attention to God’s personal communication to him or her, to respond to this personally communicating God, to grow in intimacy with this God, and to live out the consequences of the relationship. (William A. Barry, SJ and William J. Connolly, SJ, Center for Religious Development, Cambridge, Massachusetts, USA)
Is it the same as counseling?
Although very similar, spiritual direction provides a place to deal with issues that remain hidden and dark within a person’s soul, many times issues that have been suppressed for so long that the person doesn’t fully realize how much it is affecting them. Counseling’s primary focus is on a plan of action to deal with the effects of woundedness within a person’s life. We will sometimes refer to a counselor when a more clinical, psychological approach would be more beneficial. Spiritual direction’s primary focus is to teach people how to let God accompany them through all of their life, including their past pain. By companioning people in their pain, they will gain confidence from His presence and power.
